Mathoho expects Chiefs response

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho believes the team have identified the mistakes from their humbling derby defeat against Orlando Pirates, and are ready to respond this weekend.

AmaKhosi suffered a demoralising 3-1 loss against their bitter rivals in the Premiership last weekend, but will have a chance to redeem themselves in the Telkom Knockout semi-final at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

"When I was marking (Kermit) Erasmus I had cover from my fellow defenders and other teammates and, as we were closing him down, we opened up for (Thamsanqa) Gabuza," Mathoho told Soccer Laduma.

"As a team I think we dealt well with Pirates and we were just unlucky that we let in the three goals but I think we handled them very well.

"On Saturday in the Telkom Knockout, we will continue to try to improve on last weekend's performance because we can do better."

Kick-off is at 15:00.
