Masuku to build on Bucs bow

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates' Menzi Masuku said he was free of nerves when making his senior team debut in the 2-0 loss to SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals on Saturday, and hopes to build on his performance.

“It is a dream of every player to play for a big team," Masuku told his club's official website. "The opportunity to play was great. I really enjoyed it even though it was for a few minutes only, but it was really nice.

“Now we have to work and give the coach options. It is difficult to break into the team or just be part of the 18 players that go to camp you see. Now that I managed to play one game, I want to push hard to build on what I have started.”

The ex-Jomo Cosmos striker added: “Playing in the Diski Challenge under Coach Augusto Palacios really helped me do what I love the most. I was not nervous or anything. I was just glad that I lived my dream on the night which was to play for such a big club.

“For now I am not thinking of competing for places or anything – I just got here. I have to learn and make sure I fit in the team.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
