Mashumba aiming to end drought

Cape Town - Jomo Cosmos striker Charlton Mashumba admits his current goal-scoring woes are having an adverse effect on the club.

The 22-year-old, who scored 19 goals last season, was trusted a figure during the 2014/15 campaign as Cosmos won promotion to the Premiership.

"Goal droughts happens to every player," Mashumba said.

"Even the best players in the world can go for some games without a goal, but as times goes on, I mean, they do score and as individual, I believe I will score."

Cosmos are presently bottom of the Premiership standings and one of two clubs, along with Maritzburg United, yet to win a league game in 2015/16. They were also dumped out of the Telkom Knockout by the Team of Choice.

The Zimbabwean is adamant that elusive win will soon arrive, and is willing to give everything for that to happen.

"We are trying as much as possible and the results we can see are not forthcoming," Mashumba said.

"Against Maritzburg it was just a cup game and we wanted to proceed to the next round but these things happens."

And he vowed to do everything within his power to ensure Cosmos will not suffer relegation.

"I don't know where we're gonna end, but I will fight to my last drop of my blood so that I can help my team to be somewhere," Mashumba added.
