Masehe overcomes injury scare

Cape Town - Free State Stars captain, Paulus Masehe, has overcome a muscle pull injury and has resumed training with the rest of the squad as Ea Lla Koto fine tunes preparations for a tough start of the 2015/16 season.

The Kinnar Phiri’s side will open their campaign against Mpumalanga Black Aces at Goble Park on August 8, before taking on Kaizer Chiefs in their next league fixture scheduled for FNB Stadium.

Masehe told Sports24 that he is back training with the team and will be ready to face both Aces and Chiefs.

“I’m fit and back training with the rest of the squad as we prepare for a tough fixtures of the new season,” Masehe said.

The midfielder hard-man who has also played for Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns also bemoaned the departure of Daniel Cardoso and Camaldine Abraw both now at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Like always the team will find their replacement, but the one thing that we will miss is their experience.”

The Ea Lla Koto skipper also said he believes that Stars have a very strong team as they have managed to retain most of their senior players from last season apart from Cardoso and Abraw.
