Masango targets move abroad

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Mandla Masango is eyeing a move to a European club after turning down the advances of Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates.

The Bafana Bafana international, 25, is currently seeking a new club after turning down a new contract with Amakhosi at the end of the 2014/15 Premiership campaign.

Several local clubs were alerted to Masango's availability, with Wits and Pirates making noteworthy offers for his services.

However, the player is not interested in the prospect of continuing his career in South Africa and is now waiting on offers.

An unnamed source told The Sunday World: "Mandla turned down offers from Wits and Pirates. Jose Ferreira [Wits CEO] and Dr [Irvin] Khoza both made exceptionally good offers.

"He put all his eggs in the overseas basket. And there was not much interest from overseas. It's like divorcing your wife because you believe you're going to marry Beyoncé."

Born in Kwaggafontein, Masango joined Chiefs from Walter Stars in 2007 and went on to make close to 100 appearances, bagging 10 goals in the process.
