Masango gunning for Bafana spot

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mandla Masango insists that it would be in his best interest to keep fit ahead of the Bafana Bafana’s AFCON qualifier against Gambia.

According to KickOff, Bafana open their qualifying campaign on Saturday, June 13 with Masango confirming that he is set to train during the off season.

“Even if the season is over, you have to do something to keep yourself fit – not necessarily 100% fit but active – so that when pre-season resumes you don’t start from scratch,” says Masango.

“We have highly trained and well-educated fitness trainers to help us keep in shape so, most probably, by the time we gather together in the national team, we’ll be a well-oiled machine.”

Masango however is not sure that he is in the Bafana setup for the match as Shakes Mashaba is yet to unveil his squad.

Bafana have already been knocked out of the COSAFA Cup as well as the Plate section following two defeats at the hands of Botswana and Malawi.

Kick-off and venue for the Gambia encounter is still to be announced.
