Masango: No added pressure

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs winger Mandla Masango says he is not feeling any added pressure to produce a tremendous performances when his side face Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final this weekend.

The two perennial rivals will lock horns in the title decider of the R8 million competition at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban on Saturday night.

The rejuvenated Masango will be expected to lead the Amakhosi attack on the night due to his current form so far this season, but he has stressed out the fact that the final will not only be about him.

The Bafana Bafana midfielder also hinted that despite too many expectations on his shoulders, from the Chiefs supporters, the Phefeni Glamour Boys will play as a team without relying on any individual brilliance on the field.

“I am not feeling any pressure at all,” Masango told Sport24 in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.

“Despite our supporters giving me all the praise because of how am playing, it will not only be about me.

“We are a team and we are going to play as a team.

“I appreciate their support and faith they have in me but football is a team sport.

“Although am expected to lead the teams’ attack, I am not feeling any pressure.

“I will take it one step at a time and hopefully we will win the cup final on Saturday and make our supporters happy.”

The 25-year-old already has five goals to his name in all competitions this season with two of them being in the Wafa-Wafa tournament.

Chiefs defeated Platinum Stars 5-0 on aggregate to book a place in the final, with the Buccaneers thumped Wits 5-1 after two legged encounters.

Kick-off for this encounter is set for 20:15
