Cape Town - Maritzburg United chairperson Farouk Kadodia confirmed that they have been trying to get in contact with Stuart Baxter to take over as coach.
According to KickOff, Kododia reveals that if they capture Baxter as their coach it would mean that the 62-year-old would have to take a salary dip.
“Trust me, we have tried Stuart Baxter but his phone is off. We also tried him via his agent but nothing happened,” Kadodia says.
“Obviously for him to come here would also mean taking a salary cut because Kaizer Chiefs is a financial stronghold. But we are still looking and making enquiries.
“We are looking for an astute manager and I’m sure we will appoint someone within seven days.”
The team of choice sacked Mandla Ncikazi after just four PSL games in charge.
Maritzburg are currently sitting on a single point on the Absa Premiership standings from having lost three and drawing one.
