Cape Town - Robert Sankara spoiled the party for Maritzburg United as he netted a 90th minute winner for Free State Stars at Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday.
The men from Free State managed to leave Maritzburg with all three points following a 3-2 win over the struggling Team of Choice.
Both sides had a number of chances but failed to break the deadlock as the first half ended goalless.
In the 62nd minute Danny Venter found the back of the net with a great left-footed finish and gave Free State Stars a 1-0 lead after having received a ball from Bokang Thlone.
Kurt Lentjies gave the home side something to cheer about when he made no mistake from the penalty spot after Themba Tshabalala was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area.
Maritzburg would fall behind yet again as Andrea Fileccia converted a spot kick after Philani Zulu's challenge on him.
Substitute Mohammed Anas netted an equaliser for Maritzburg United with little time left on the clock but it was Sankara who would steal the headlines.
The loss leaves Martizburg United rooted to the bottom of the table with just one point to show from their opening five PSL fixtures.
