Maponyane: Gabuza can do a job

Cape Town - Marks Maponyane believes that on-form Orlando Pirates striker, Thamsanqa Gabuza, can be very effective against certain types of defenders.

Maponyane, a great marksman in his day, says that Gabuza is a striker that can be used to provide a different dimension to his team’s play which is valuable even if he won’t be starting every game.

“Gabuza is one of those strikers that I would refer to as horses for courses; a striker that will be needed when the opposition has big, bullish defenders but he is not one for quick defenders.

“He’s not going to take defenders, he’s not a feeder, he’s a box man,” Maponyane insists.

Gabuza is currently in Mpumalanga as the Buccaneers prepare to take on Egyptian giants, Zamalek, in a CAF Confederation Cup group stage game on Saturday at 15:00 at Mbombela Stadium.
