Manyisa boost for Pirates

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have been boosted with the news of midfielder Oupa Manyisa returning to training following a groin injury.

Manyisa missed their last two outings, the PSL draw against Free State Stars and a CAF Champions League win over TP Mazembe.

Pirates' physical trainer Japheth Borges told the Orlando Pirates website that the Bafana Bafana midfielder is ready to start full training and it will be up to him to reach the desired fitness levels required to make the team.

“He (Oupa) trained with the guys in the gym and now he is back to do some more training with us in the afternoon. He responded well to the treatment and now we will try to get him to work hard and get back in the team,” said Borges.

Manyisa said he is eager to return to action.

“I feel good. The injury was not bad but I felt pain every time I ran so the medical team advised that I miss the match against Free State Stars and TP Mazembe. I have been out of action for the past week but I am now doing full training and looking forward to working my way back into the team."

In Manyisa’s absence, Onyekachi Okonkwo and Lehlohonolo Masalesa partnered in central midfield against TP Mazembe.

Pirates, who are currently third on the PSL log, face Wits at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday (18:00 kick-off).
