Manyisa: Will he stay or will he go?

Cape Town - The rumours regarding the future of Oupa Manyisa continue to grow as Mamelodi Sundowns gear up for a mega-money offer.

For many months the future of the influential Orlando Pirates midfielder has been making the headlines with much speculation that the player could be departing the Sea Robbers, but it appears there are now signs of progress starting to develop on the matter as the January transfer window inches closer.

Sport24 reported as far back as April this year that there was overseas interest in Manyisa, mainly from Egyptian club Al Ahly. At that time, Manyisa was reportedly valued at R29 million by his club. Top agents in the game labelled that fee a "ridiculous" and suggested a more appropriate fee in the region of between R11-R14 million.

No Egyptian move for Manyisa developed, but in June this year speculation increased that Manyisa had attracted interest from Russia, but again Pirates were pricing their star out of a deal with former Bafana Bafana defender Bradley Carnell also suggesting a fee of around R11-R14 million would be fair.

Again there no overseas move for Oupa Manyisa as he settled into the Buccaneers line up for the 2014/15 PSL season.

Earlier in October, the rumour mill went into overdrive when big-spending Mamelodi Sundowns re-entered the race to sign Manyisa.

The Brazilians coach Pitso Mosimane attempted to pour cold water on his side's link when he was quoted as saying: "At Sundowns we also read the newspapers and we see what is said in the media,"

"I need to be clear on this one, Sundowns don't want Oupa Manyisa. We don't want him.”

The Oupa Manyisa to Mamelodi Sundowns story does not stop there.

Soccer Laduma report that Mamelodi Sundowns will not give up on their intentions to sign the in-form Manyisa and are willing to offer as much as R15 million for his services.

The same source also hint at interest from Belgium and a second division club in Spain.

Manyisa's current deal at Pirates expires at the end of the season which means on January 1, the 26-year-old midfielder can enter into negotiations with any club for a free transfer at the end of the season.

Orlando Pirates are playing a dangerous game in allowing Manyisa's contract to run out and are currently just eight months away from losing him on a free transfer and potentially to one of their main PSL rivals.

Sundowns, if indeed they are serious, cannot risk not making a January move for the Bafana Bafana midfielder as a foreign club could quickly swoop in for the player from under their noses.

At this stage, there are several possibilities on the table regarding Manyisa's future with the question remaining...Will he stay or will he go?
