Soccer Laduma report that the 38-year-old, who was given a one-year extension at the club during the off season, is being considered for a management role at the Sea Robbers.

Orlando Pirates Chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, reportedly wants to hold onto the veteran’s services after the player's 12-years with the Soweto outfit.

It has now been revealed that Lekgwathi is in the running to take over William Okpara’s role as the team manager of the club.

After picking up a foot injury last season, Lekgwathi has already missed the first six Absa Premiership games as well as the club's MTN8 matches.

However, the defender has been declared fit and is reportedly ready to feature in Buccaneers colours this season.

Pirates are in action on Saturday, September 20 when they face Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium for the right to take home the MTN8 Cup.

Kick-off is scheduled for 20:15.
