Johannesburg - Following his successful recovery from a groin injury which kept him out of action for three weeks, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka has said the injury was a blessing in disguise as it gave him more time to rest and watch his teammates from the side lines.
The 25-year-old attacker is poised to return to the pitch when the Amakhosi host the reigning PSL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, at the FNB stadium on Saturday.
Before sustaining a groin injury in a 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town last month, Maluleka has been a vital cog in the Amakhosi machine this season, featuring in 12 of their 13-game winning streak, as well as bagging himself three goals along the way.
The Thembisa born playmaker also told Sport24 in an exclusive interview that he is ready to contribute to Chiefs success starting with the game against the Brazilians.
"My injury was not a setback, not at all," Maluleka told Sport24.
"In fact, I think it was a blessing in disguise because it gave me more time to rest and also strengthen my muscles and I also had more time to watch the team from the side lines and the guys did well for the team.
"So I’m not complaining at all but now am ready to return after recovering from my injury.
"Yes I would love to play on Saturday if given a chance, but it’s up to the coach and the technical team.
"But personally, I feel that I’m ready to bounce back."
The Brazilians will be looking to be the first team to cause an upset over the Phefeni Glamour Boys who are yet to taste defeat in the 2014/15 PSL season.
Kick-off is set for 15:30
