Malawian midfielder impresses Sono

Cape Town - Malawi may have lost 2-1 to Zimbabwe in their AFCON 2017 qualifier in Blantyre on Saturday, but one Malawian player impressed Jomo Sono, coach of newly-promoted Absa Premiership side Jomo Cosmos.

News reaching Sport24 is that midfielder, Micium Mhone, had a good game and impressed the hard-to-impress Sono.

The source said that Sono watched the whole game and he was happy with what he saw from the player.

Malawi-based Cosmos scout Ben Chiwaya confirmed that "Bra J" as Jomo Sono is know in football circles, was impressed and interested in the player.

"Coach Jomo was happy with how the player performed against Zimbabwe and we are we working on him going to South Africa," Chiwaya explained.

“But you should know that he is a police officer and right channels should be followed to let him play outside South Africa.”
