Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cuthbert Malajila sent a strong message to the rest of their PSL opponents when he scored a brace as Sundowns beat Wits 4-2 on Saturday.
The Zimbabwean international revealed that 'Downs were going all out for the win after dropping points against Platinum Stars in their opening league game.
Malajila said the teamfelt relieved after getting the league campaign up and running.
“We wanted three points more than anything else," said Malajila.
“We did everything we could as a team which shows that and you could see with the goals we scored that we want to win at all costs.
“And now we have four points which is really good for us.
“We got one point in the previous game because it wasn’t our day.
“But now we are happy that we managed to win and hopefully we’ll keep the momentum going throughout the season.”
The former Maritzburg United goal-poacher says he is not setting his sights on the golden boot yet but his main ambition is to work hard for the team.
“For now I think I’m only targeting hard work," he insisted
“That’s where my focus is at the moment but when the goals come I’m sure they’ll flow.
“But as much as I’m playing, I want to score as much as I can and like I said, I want to work extremely hard first.”
