Makudubela to stay at Platinum Stars

Cape Town - Platinum Stars have taken the option to extend the contract of midfielder Mahlatsi Makudubela by one year, to the disappointment of Sundowns and Pirates management.

It is known that Pitso Mosimane was looking to secure the services of the skilful midfielder who was once a part of the Masandawana youth and reserve teams.

Orlando Pirates were also reportedly in the race to sign the 25-year-old before he was handed a contract extension while Bloemfontein Celtic apparently made an enquiry about the player’s availability.

Makudubela's performances this season have caught the eye of some of the country’s top coaches but his agent, Abbie Rasimphi, told goal.com that he will stay on at the North West club.

"Well, yes Platinum Stars have already exercised the one-year option they had on Mahlatsi's contract. That's correct, he will be staying with the club for the 2015/16 season," Rasimphi said.

Makudubela played 19 times for Dikwena last season, impressing many who watch the PSL. He was an integral part of the United FC team that managed to reach the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup in 2013 against all odds.
