Mabena: The goals will come

Cape Town - Platinum Stars striker Ndumiso Mabena has assured the club's supporters the goals will come, following a lacklustre goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The two clubs, whose rivalry is growing by the season, perhaps took too long weighing each other up and subsequently committed fewer legs in attack in their Premiership opener at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Mabena said it was only a matter of time until the goal flood gates opened up for him.

"The goals will come. There is no doubt about that. We play a very attacking game and this is why we will always create scoring opportunities," Mabena told KickOff.

"This was just the first match and there are more matches to come. During the beginning of the season, it usually takes a few matches to get your full fitness back. With some players it is faster so one has to be patient," he added.

"Individual and personal goals will always be important but for me the important thing is for Platinum Stars to win silverware and play a competitive and attractive style of football for the fans."
