Mabaso settled at Ikamva

Cape Town - On-loan Ajax Cape Town defender Abel Mabaso said he is pleased with the progress he has made following his arrival in the Mother City.

Mabaso was once again shipped out by parent club Mamelodi Sundowns, after being sent to loan at Mpumalanga Black Aces last season.

The 24-year-old is still fighting to make his breakthrough at Ikamva, though, with Rivaldo Coetzee, Mosa Lebusa, Abbubaker Mobara and Cecil Lolo ahead of him in the pecking order.

Mabaso, though, is determined to keep his head down and continue working hard, telling the club's website: "Training has been great so far and I'm really grateful for the opportunity and the trust the coach has given me so far. It's been a really pleasant start for me.

"The guys in the team have been really welcoming towards me, which is really positive. The spirit is really nice in the dressing room, so it's really humbling and there's a really calm feeling at the moment. It really is a nice space to be in."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
