Johannesburg - Veteran Orlando Pirates defender Lucky Lekgwathi is hoping to secure a new contract with the Soweto giants in the near future.
Lekgwathi has been at Bucs since 2002 and has become a mainstay in the team - winning two league titles, one MTN8 cup, two Charity Cup trophies and a Vodacom Challenge along the way.
The 34-year-old former Bafana Bafana international is soon to be out of contract at the Parktown-based club, but is hoping a new deal will be put on the table as he is eager to continue playing for the club he holds so close to his heart.
"My contract with Pirates is up for renewal and I will meet Khoza to discuss a new one and hope that negotiations will go well," Lekgwathi, who is the current captain of Bucs, told the Sowetan.
"My heart is still with Pirates and I want to be with them in the new season. I have been with this team for a long time and I still want to help them win trophies.
"I still have a lot of strength left in me and I want to play. To me age is nothing but a number."
