Lekgwathi signs new Pirates deal

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have released a statement confirming that Lucky Lekgwathi has signed a new deal with the club.

According to the SuperSport website, the strong defender has re-signed with the club for the 2014/15 season ending speculation over his future.

“Orlando Pirates can confirm that veteran defender Lucky Lekgwathi will be a member of the Bucs squad for the 2014 season,” the club said in a statement on Monday.

Lekgwathi, who recently turned 38-years-old, has been with Orlando Pirates for the past 12 years.

“I feel strong and I still feel young! My teammates always tell me, ‘you know captain you are still running like a young man of 24 or 25 and if my legs can still carry me, I want to play," he said.

“Even at my age, I know can still play and I still want to keep competing. It would be good for me to go and playing Africa again and this time round I will make sure that we win the Confederation Cup.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
