Lekgwathi confirms return

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has declared himself fit following five months on the sidelines but admits he is unlikely to get back into the first team any time soon.

The former Bafana Bafana international has been out with an ankle injury since lifting the Nedbank Cup title at the end of last season, but completed a full training session on Tuesday without any complaints.

And while he is happy to be back to fitness, the Buccaneers skipper is not expecting a return to action when the Premiership resumes following the current international break.

"I trained and I thank God that I did not feel any pain on my ankle. I kicked the ball around and I ran around a bit, so it's good," he told The Sowetan.

"Now it's up to the coach to see if he will select me. Playing, for me at this age, is a bonus.

"I will do extra training during this break so that I am ready whenever I am called upon. I need to work hard."
