The long-serving defender is yet to feature for the Happy People in the 2014/15 Absa Premiership campaign due to his recurring injuries, but remains hopeful to lead the Nedbank Cup defending champions before the end of the season.

Lekgwathi, 38, confirmed to Sport24 in an exclusive interview on Wednesday that he is still in the dark as to when he will make his first appearance of the season.

“Yes I thought you should be the first to know that I’m back at training now,” said Lekgwathi.

“I have started with my light training today (Wednesday).

“So at this stage, we are still not sure when I will start playing again.”

“Phinda Mzala” last featured for the Sea Robbers in a 3-1 win over Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup final last season.

It remains to be seen when the versatile defender will make a return to competitive football.
