Johannesburg - Former Moroka Swallows mentor Julio Leal has been appointed Orlando Pirates new coach, the club announced on their website on Wednesday. The Brazilian replaces Ruud Krol who won a three trophies with the Buccaneers last season.
“I am honoured to join Orlando Pirates Football Club,” said Leal after signing a three year deal with the Buccaneers.
”This is a club with great history and tradition – not forgetting great fans. I am looking forward to being part of the Orlando Pirates family and thank the Chairman for the trust he’s shown in me.”
“This is a club with a solid foundation, which I aim to build upon during my tenure,” the coach concluded.
Leal's first game in charge will be against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the Vodacom Challenge next month, before facing archrivals Kaizer Chiefs in the club's second match of the preseason tournament.
