According to Soccer Laduma, the 17-year-old landed in Holland over the weekend to showcase his talents abroad and hopefully get offered a contract.
Lakay’s agency, Cape Colosseum, has confirmed that the player took part in his first training session on Monday morning.
The Eredivisie club's website claims that the club promote youth, but with a focus on both training on the pitch as well as off-field education.
The Santos forward was recently called up to the South African national side for their back-to-back AFCON 2015 qualifying games against Congo, but did not make the either of the matchday squads.
Lakay has been in Santos’ first team since the age of 15 with two NFD seasons already under his belt.
The Cape Town-based forward is not the only teenage sensation to be scouted by major clubs as Sport24 reported earlier that Bafana Bafana defender Rivaldo Coetzee is being chased by Ajax Amsterdam while three PSL big guns - Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs - are also interested in trying to lure the defender away from the Cape.
