Krol: We believe in miracles

ohannesburg - Orlando Pirates boss Ruud Krol is hoping for a miracle on the final day of the season that would see his side secure the PSL title.

The Buccaneers dropped two points as they were held by Santos at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday, although Kaizer Chiefs' 4-0 mauling of league leaders Ajax Cape Town, mean they are still in the championship race.

Krol's side would need to beat Golden Arrows and hope that the Cape side don't win their tie, while Amakhosi are also still in the hunt but would need both sides to lose on May 21.

The Dutch coach told the PSL: "The draw is better than losing, though I felt we deserved a win.

"But we still believe in miracles and hopefully on the 21st (of May) there will be a miracle for Pirates, because we deserve it.

Erwin Isaacs scored an early goal for Santos with Pirates responding with a very late strike by Bongani Ndulula in the 90th minute.

Krol added: "It was not good. We had no pressure on (Ricardo) Skippers, who was able to get the cross in - everyone was not alert and the man (Isaacs) was free and that was a problem.

"After the goal we conceded, we were a little bit down. We tried everything in the second half and we got our chances, but were a bit unlucky, and of course there was also good goal keeping.

"I always felt that the goal would come, but it came too late, to get the outright victory.

"If you have chances and you don't score, then you won't win. The fight was fantastic, the boys tried and tried. But you need a little bit of luck, and today that was not on our side."
