Krol: Teko can lean on me

2010-11-03 11:00

Johannesburg - Teko Modise featured for 12 minutes of Orlando Pirates' 3-0 win over Ajax Cape Town and Ruud Krol believes the playmaker is back on track.

Prior to his cameo against the Urban Warriors, Modise had not played for the Buccaneers since the draw with Wits on September 18.

Krol says he has never doubted the 27-year-old midfielder's ability but he did reveal he will manage the fallen star's comeback carefully.

"I still believe in Teko because he is a quality player," Krol the Pirates website.

"I am very happy with his efforts at training and that's why I gave him a chance against Ajax.

"It was important to introduce him at a time when we were ahead to ensure that he didn't experience unnecessary pressure."

The Dutch coach was delighted with the way his team fared against the Cape side and he also backed Modise to continue to improve.

He said: "I am very happy with the way he played against Ajax. In fact, Teko is getting better and better and I have no doubt he will soon get to his best."

My message to Teko is that he need to be patient. He must not put himself under any pressure to get to his best form so he could be in the starting line. Whatever game time he gets he need to do what he does best. Just ignore critics and negative comments bcos they don't mean a thing. Big up to Mr Rudi Krol for being a father figure to Teko. Im looking forward to watching Bucs in PTA. See you there and good luck to the team.

What a lousy song, its been sang for well over the year now, Uteko uzobuya, uTeko sekayabuya, OP shouldn't be a reharb for the sick stars, we want resulst, without him we've been seeing some, he must go and recovery where Steve Lekolea went to recover man, Nxaa...

  • Gee - 2010-11-03 13:11

I think this is not fair, why should Teko get all the sympathy he doesn't derseve? the guy is not playing at club level but get national call ups, what about other players who don't get that special treatment teko gets, is if fair? no maaan teko should be treated equally as other players thats the only way he'll get his form back if he does anyway. Nxa!!

Teko my man, stay strong. Indoda ingawa namhlanje kusasa iphinde ivuke. I missed you on the pitch, I'm a really big fan. These things happen to all people, they're just there to make you stronger. If you can come out of this then you can definately help our team win the league. IF YOU WILL, YOU CAN!!!

  • phindile - 2010-11-03 15:14

Teko mfana they say " form is temporary but class is Permanent" . you got class and soon you will bounce back to your usual self . @Gee ma man Moriri was picked by Pareiera without playing a single game for Sundowns. Also the same can be said about Sthembiso Ngcobo . or is not a problem when a chiefs player gets picked while nt playing ?

  • Vovoste - 2010-11-03 15:23

Firstly...i'm a Chiefs fan...i like Teko so much that i wish he played for us(Chiefs). He's a very talented player and has a lot to offer to South African Football...we all know that no player can be in the same form forever...Teko is also a human being, we all experience downfalls in our lives. My message to Teko Modise is...boy, when you fall get up and dust yourself and KEEP ROCKING...you are a star. Patience is a the only way to go...i always watch Pirates games just to see you...okay and Jali play. Be strong!!!

TEKO.A SETBACK IS ONLY SETUP TO A GREATER COMEBACK. U ARE VERY CLOSE TO A EVEN BETTER PLAYER U USED TO BE.JUST PROMISED ME ONE THING THAT U STAY HUMBLE AND NEVER TAKE THE GLORY TO USELF BUT RATHER GIVE PRAISE TO GOD BECAUSE ITS HIM THAT GIVES AND TAKE -AWAY TALENT. TAKE SOME LESSONS FROM THE BEST OF THE BEST KAKA &COMPANY AND U WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN!

  • LETONA - 2010-11-03 23:17

You cannot keep a good man down,so said wise men.Teko is one of South African stars whether we like it or not.I agree with Vovoste, surely players including Teko are not machines, they need to be rested. Some months before the WCgames, one of the reporters adviced Krol not to over play Teko by playing him in each and every Pirates game unfortunately poor Krol did not listen.By that time he had Kamwendo to substitute Teko with instead he played our Teko on wrong positions. My advice to Krol is to clear the mess that he have started.Krol must just swallow his pride and play all our talented players like Schalkwyk,Mongale,Mayambela,Makhanya etc.Shapa Bakashushu shapaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • Thulasizwe - 2010-11-10 18:05

Teko modise is good, infact TEKO rocks, copy that and paste it in your heart haters

  • Tiro - 2010-11-14 12:38

The couch is killing us the fans, the club and Teko himself. He needs to play Teko more often. look what Chiefs did to Pirates, it was clear that Jali could not handle the middle field position on his own i truelly beleive if Teko was playing we would be singing a different song.
