Cape Town - New Kaizer Chiefs coach, Steve Khomphela, could re-unite with Bafana Bafana defender, Kwanda Mngonyama, who played under the Free State-born coach at Maritzburg United.

According to sources close to the player, the two parties have remained in contact and Khomphela rates the defender highly.
“The thing is, the defender is well aware that he does not have a future at Sundowns with reports saying the Tshwane based team will loan him again in the new season,” the source said.
“Do not be surprised if Chiefs make a shock move for defender because a lot of coaches rate him highly including Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba, and his assistant, Owen Da Gama.”
The lanky defender saw a lot of growth under Khomphela at Maritzburg United and has been part of the national squad that played at the recent COSAFA Cup as well as Saturday’s 3-0 win over Mauritius in the opening match of CHAN.
Chiefs are set to announce a number of new players tomorrow including defender, Siyanda Xulu, but the club is still looking for a replacement for Tefu Mashamaite.
