Pietermaritzburg - Maritzburg United’s Public Relations Officer, Brian Zuma, says the KZN-based team will not reveal any new signings for next season until they resolve their internal issues with coach Steve Komphela.
Komphela joined the Team of Choice midway through last season, succeeding the sacked Clinton Larsen.
Speaking exclusively to Sport24 on Wednesday, Zuma revealed that the former Bafana Bafana captain is still on the United payroll as he has not handed in his resignation despite the internal conflicts at the club.
“At the moment we are not announcing any signings,” said Zuma.
“We are still trying to resolve the issues with the coach.
“As soon as the coaching issue are resolved, we will start announcing the players’ movement.
“Steve Komphela is still the Maritzburg United head coach as things stand now because he was not fired and he didn’t resign.
“The club is doing their best to come up with the solution to those issues.”
Komphela was also linked with a possible move to newly promoted side, Chippa United, before the Chilli Boys unveiled Kostadin Papic as their new mentor earlier this month.
The 46-year-old tactician was at the helm of Free State Stars at the beginning of last season, before being given the boot following the club’s poor run of results.
