The Ghana international has just over one year left on the contract he signed on joining from Santos during the 2014 off-season.

Paintsil enjoyed a good debut campaign with the Team of Choice, making 27 league appearances and helping Komphela's side to an eighth-spot finish, which saw them qualify for the MTN8.

Komphela is hoping that contract discussions with the 33-year-old right-back over an extension will reach a successful conclusion.

"There is movement within the office [to keep Paintsil] and they are certain of things are pulling together,” said Komphela as quoted by KickOff.

"And truly so, John Paintsil has given us a great season. We hope that some of the discussion we have with management will be along the lines that whatever decision is taken will be in the best interest of the club and John himself."
