Cape Town – Following back to back Absa Premiership draws, Steve Komphela hopes his Kaizer Chiefs side can continue to build on their performances.
Amakhosi played to a draw against University of Pretoria before their trip to the Mother City and playing to 1-all draw against Ajax Cape Town.
According to the Kaizer Chiefs website, Komphela is adamant that the Glamour Boys put in a much better performance against the Urban Warriors and hopes they can continue to build on that.
“We played with the same style and intensity that we demonstrated during the start of the season,” said Komphela.
The match was played in front of a near capacity crowd at the magnificent Cape Town Stadium.
A week earlier Ajax had beaten Kaizer Chiefs to win the MTN8 Cup at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
“I hope we will take this as a confidence builder going into the next match.
“We know that we could have done better in terms of collecting the three maximum points, but with this performance you can’t fault anyone.”
“I am pleased with the application from the players as it shows that the loss in the MTN8 final is now water under the bridge,” Komphela comments.
“This match will serve as a point of reference. We now have to build on this performance for our next match.”
Chiefs will travel to Moruleng to face Platinum Stars in Telkom Knockout Last 16.
The match takes place at the Moruleng Stadium on Sunday, October 4.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
