Komphela curbs Pirates link

Cape Town - Steve Komphela has brushed aside all rumours linking him with the vacant Orlando Pirates head coach post.

According to KickOff, Komphela’s name has been among the coaching list that Dr. Irvin Khoza would possibly lure to Soweto to take charge of the Buccaneers.

“I will draw back on what I said when I was at Free Stars and there was a lot of rumours and speculations,” said Komphela.

“I said: ‘Any response to any speculative question is very pre-emptive, so any response to that is equally pre-emptive’.”

Komphela believes that he and the media should not get excited about him taking the head coach post because everything is “pre-empt”.

Meanwhile the Maritzburg United coach will look to recover from midweek Absa Premiership defeat when his Team of Choice side take on Polokwane City at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

When the teams met in Pietermaritzburg earlier this season, Komphela claimed a 2-1 home victory.

Kick-off is at 20:15 on Saturday, December 20.
