Komphela backing for Manqele

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele has received the biggest endorsement from coach Steve Komphela, who believes the marksman will be a hit at the Naturena.

Manqele, who joined Chiefs during the transfer window from Chippa United, netted his first goal for Amakhosi at the weekend in the 1-1 draw against Ajax Cape Town.

And Komphela, who coached the striker during their time together at Free State Stars, believes Manqele will be great once he has had time to settle.

"He needs game time. We all know what he is capable of doing," Komphela told Soccer Laduma.

"His talent and skill surpasses the time he has on the field because as he goes now he tires, but with more game time we will see more from him. All he needs is the game time and he will be back at his best."

Chiefs will be looking to get over the disappointment of their MTN8 final loss, when they open their Telkom Knockout account against Platinum Stars at the Moruleng Stadium on Sunday, October 4.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
