The pair won the league title at SuperSport United in 2007/08 and went on to win three in a row with the club.
Klate’s largely successful spell at Pirates came to an end in January this year as he returned to the Tshwane-based club.
The 30-year-old spoke to Sport24 about his short loan spell at SuperSport and his eventual decision to sign on at Wits.
"Pirates held their side of the deal with SuperSport," the winger acknowledged.
"But Wits just came in with a much, much, much better offer.
"When I say a better offer it’s not just a couple of Rands you know. So it was a no-brainer at the end of the day.
"Wits has been there or there-about in the past few seasons finishing in the top four. I have followed them considerably.
"After the Sundowns win, I think they could have gone on and challenged a little bit more.
Klate has no doubt that teaming up with Hunt will mean that the league title is once again within his grasp.
"They are a strong team and were in with a shout to challenge for the league and next season will be no different.
"I think that’s going to be our main aim, to win the league title."
