Khuzwayo remains first choice

Cape Town - Following the return of Itumeleng Khune, Stuart Baxter confirms that Brilliant Khuzwayo will remain Kaizer Chiefs’ first choice.

Read: No fear for Polokwane City

According to KickOff, after Khuzwayo’s Man of the Match performance against Polokwane City in their Absa Premiership goalless draw, Baxter reiterates that as long as Khuzwayo is playing well the 24-year-old will remain in the starting XI.

“It is not a headache [that Khune is back],” said Baxter.

“As long as Brilliant plays [well], he keeps the shirt simple as that.”

Khune has returned to training after removing his moon boot as he found himself sidelined since September following an ankle injury.

Baxter unveils that the Amakhosi players know that they must fight for their position in the starting XI no matter what the circumstances.

“Our players know that the person in possession of the shirt keeps it so unless he [Khuzwayo] plays poorly then Itu is gonna wait his turn.

“Itu knows that, he is a professional.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
