Amakhosi have already tasted defeat, in pre-season, in the Vodacom Challenge and Carling Black Label cup where they lost out to Orlando Pirates both times.

But with their first test of the new season fast approaching, the stopper insists his side can topple their Soweto rivals.

He told the club's official website: "Our focus as a team is now on Jomo Cosmos this coming Saturday. It is very important that we start on a high note. Personally I want to win everything on offer this season and I am sure I speak for my team-mates as well.

"It is our objective from the goalkeeping point of view to keep as many clean sheets as we can and I think with the kind of players we have we are capable of doing better than we did last season. We are all getting used to each other as the back four and this augers very well with our objectives as the team."

"Spider Kid" has made 113 appearances for Chiefs, but admits he is still learning his trade.

"I am forever talking to our goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker about my game.

"I am also grateful to other goalkeepers at Chiefs and in the national team who keep on giving me feedback. I am going to continue giving my best for both the Club and country."
