Khune set to return?

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs Captain Itumeleng Khune says he is ready to return to actions following his six week absence from the game.

The “Spider Kid” sustained an ankle injury at the beginning of the season, and it kept him out of competitive football since but the player has hinted that he may be nearing a return to action.

“I’m completing my sixth week now and I’m feeling much better.” said Khune, who hinted that he has already began doing light training with his teammates.

“I’m going to have a meeting with the team doctor on Monday and hopefully he will clear me to play again.”

“But I have already started with a little bit of gym work.

“Even at training I am doing a lot of goalkeeping work on my own.

“And my teammates said they are really inspired to see me working wearing my moon boot.

The Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper has missed several PSL matches due to his ankle injury.

Khune was also on the sidelines for the Amakhosi’s recent MTN8 final win over their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates while his injury also kept him out of the early stages of the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
