According to Chiefs’ website, Khune is “progressing well” and has confirmed that he is steadily cycling without his moon boot which is positive news for Amakhosi fans.

“He [Khune] saw the sports physician yesterday (Monday). He can start cycling out of the boot and is doing gym. He will have another scan in 2 weeks’ time which will then confirm the date for his return to play,” said the statement.

Khune underwent a scan on his ankle last month after being called into the national set-up which revealed the shot stopper suffered a Grade 3 stress fracture to his ankle.

Next on the agenda for Chiefs is a Telkom Knockout first-round clash with Martizburg United on Saturday, October 4. It's an interesting assignment for The Glamour Boys as Steve Komphela is eager to get one over Naturena side as they were beaten 1-0 last weekend in the Absa Premiership.

Amakhosi face United on Saturday, October 4 at the FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is a 20:15.
