Khune ready for new season

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune insists he is excited for the upcoming season and is not suffering from a "World Cup hangover".

The Bafana star, who played at the June/July showpiece, is currently preparing for Saturday's MTN8 last-four clash with Bloemfontein Celtic and he is confident Amakhosi will impress in the competition.

"Club soccer is our bread and butter," he said.

"It was great playing at the World Cup in June, but while it was a fantastic experience, I am looking forward to helping Chiefs win cups this season."

He added that club coach Vladimir Vermezovic is hungry for silverware, with the league title a priority.

"But that is a marathon, the top eight is our immediate target," he said.

"We need to shine for the next couple of matches and try and win it."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
