Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund says he would be 'delighted' to add defender Bongani Khumalo to his squad ahead of the new campaign.
The former Bafana Bafana captain is currently without a club after parting ways with English side Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season.
He has been training with Matsatsantsa during the off-season in a bid to earn a permanent stay at the Tshwane-based club, and it seems a deal is currently being negotiated.
Speaking to the assembled press following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Ajax Cape Town in the Cape Town Cup, Igesund said: "Stan Matthews [the club's chief executive officer] has been in discussions with him and of course I would be delighted to get him in."
The news of an impending deal being struck between the two parties was confirmed by the player's agent, Glynn Binkin.
He said: "Talks are advanced but there are still things that need to be ironed out from both parties."
Khumalo spent four years in England but failed to make a single first-team appearance for Spurs, instead spending the majority of his time out on loan.
He had loan spells with Preston North End, Reading, PAOK, Doncaster Rovers and Colchester United.
