Khumalo: Top form not far off

Johannesburg - SuperSport United captain Bongani Khumalo insists it won't be long before the team is firing on all cylinders.

Matsatsansa have made a slow start to the new campaign - knocked out of the MTN8 by Moroka Swallows before losing to Bidvest Wits in the league.

A victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces last week has boosted the mood at the defending champions and Khumalo admits the team is nearly ready to impress yet again.

"I believe the players are all getting better by the day. In time - very soon, we'll be like a well-oiled machine," the Bafana Bafana international told the club's official website.

Khumalo feels the scoreline in the match against Aces was not a true reflection of proceedings and is looking to the team to start putting away the chances they create.

He said: "It took us a while to settle down and once we did I felt we could have scored a lot more goals and sealed the game a whole lot sooner."

A move to English giants Tottenham Hotspur could be on the horizon for Khumalo following a trial period at the club during pre-season.

The 23-year-old admits he enjoyed his short training stint with Spurs and reckons he impressed during a training-ground friendly against lower league opposition.

"I trained with the first team (Tottenham Hotspur) for two days and then played in a friendly match against Leicester City. We won the game and I felt that I had a good game. We won 2-1," he added.
