Khoza bemoans Ngobeni saga

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza has distanced the club from the Clifford Ngobeni-Golden Arrows saga.

The Buccaneers offloaded Ngobeni to Abafana Bes'thende in January this year, but the Lamontville outfit released him at the end of last season and he has not received his salary since May.

It was initially thought 'Dona' had moved from Pirates to Arrows on an 18-month loan deal, but Khoza has made it clear it was a permanent switch and Ngobeni, therefore, belongs to Arrows.

He also went on to suggest Ngobeni's agent, Rob Moore, is at fault.

"I think (the situation) shows the unfortunate part of the role played by agents. We were told that Clifford wants to go to Arrows because his agent had done a deal with Arrows," Khoza told Football411.

"Our job was to ship Clifford to Arrows and he signed the contract with Arrows and we dispatched a clearance to Arrows. What happened after that I don't know.

"Again it was done by the agent and we were not involved in those arrangements. For us, we are quite clear in our minds that we did what we were asked to do by the agent.

"These things of moving gets the players excited but the sad part is that when they don't work out they come back to us and nobody ever talks about the agent.

"In this instance it's the issue of the agent that was responsible in asking the player to go and whether he did explain the elements of the deal I don't know because in his mind he might think that he (Ngobeni) went there on loan, which is not the case.

"If they ask for documents from us and to testify we will do so."

Ngobeni's case is now in the hands of the PSL's Dispute Resolution Chamber, where he is claiming R1.3million in compensation, although it is not clear at this stage whether he is claiming from Pirates or Arrows.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
