Khoza: PSL right up there

Johannesburg - Dr Irvin Khoza says he is delighted to see South African football held in such high regarding following his appointment to the World Leagues Association.

The PSL chairman is one of nine members of the newly formed body, whose purpose centres around the development of local and global football.

And Khoza, who is a member of several other bodies, including chairman of Orlando Pirates as well as a role with FIFA, says he is honoured to have been chosen as one of the WLA's leaders.

"The telecommunications and the Internet have really shrunk the world. Audiences around the globe consume products from around the world in real time," he told The Sowetan.

"Gone are the days you could have a local product with a quality which is inconsistent with the best in the world.

"Fact-finding missions before the 2010 FIFA World Cup and our staging of the tournament proved to the world that we are up there with the best across the globe," Khoza said.

"This appointment is an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication to continuously improve that we in the PSL have shown.

"It will encourage us to redouble our efforts in everything we do."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
