Johannesburg - Mabhuti Khenyeza has admitted it was painful for Mamelodi Sundowns to watch the Soweto giants contest the Telkom Knockout final.
Kaizer Chiefs ousted Orlando Pirates 3-0 to lift the trophy and R4.25 million in prize money on Saturday night at a packed FNB Stadium.
The result ensures that two out of three competitive tournaments have been won by the pair this season as Bucs are MTN8 champions.
The only showpiece remaining is the Nedbank Cup which the Brazilians will be eager to claim, while they're also leading the PSL title chase.
"This break is disturbing our momentum," he told the Sundowns' website over the side's inaction over the weekend.
"It is painful to watch other teams competing in a final and we are not.
"There is only one remedy to this situation... we must win games, be it cup or league games, that way we are guaranteed to win trophies."
Khenyeza believes the club needs to stop dwelling on its glorious past and record some new success. He wants a triumphant attitude to resonate around Chloorkop starting with the league clash against Golden Arrows.
"As players we are going to be judged on what we have put in the trophy cabinet nothing else," said the striker.
"Having said that we have to look ahead and our next mission is Golden Arrows... we have to beat them in Durban which is never easy... but I am looking forward to the game as Arrows play an attacking style like us, so it should be a free flowing game and should make for good football on the day."
