Johannesburg - Kaizer Motaung Junior, who scored a brace against AmaZulu on Wednesday night, will undergo a scan on Thursday to determine the extent of his injury.
Motaung Jr scored two brilliant headers to guide Amakhosi to a 3-1 over Usuthu at the FNB stadium, only to be replaced by Sthembiso Ngcobo at half-time.
Pundits were surprised to see the striker depart the field, but it later emerged that he was forced off with an injury problem.
Coach Vladimir Vermezovic said the injury might not be serious and the 29-year-old could travel with the team to Bloemfontein for Sunday's match against Clinton Larsen's boys.
"I want to say that it is a big thing for us losing Kaizer Junior because in the last few games he played on a high level," he said.
"He had some groin problems that's why we had to take him off at half-time and I hope our medical team will make him better for Sunday's game."
The Chiefs boss also revealed that Abia Nale picked up a knock, adding that both players would be evaluated.
"I don't know at the moment how serious is the injury and on Thursday he will have a scan together with Abia Nale, who had some knock on his ankle. We will know on Thursday if it is serious or not, but I hope he will be fine for Sunday," Vermezovic said.
