Chairman impressed by United

Cape Town - Maritzburg United Chairman, Farook Kadodia, said he has been wholly satisfied with the manner in which his players have conducted themselves this season, especially as this has been one of the more competitive editions of the Premiership since its inception.

Maritzburg United currently occupy the seventh position in the Premiership standings but they are just nine points behind Bidvest Wits, who secured a position among the top three in the league before the mid-term break.

The Team of Choice is also just two points behind Polokwane City and Ajax Cape Town, and four points behind Orlando Pirates.

There is clearly a considerable amount to play for at this juncture and Kadodia is confident the squad have the capacity to take full advantage of the current circumstances.

"The team opened the season very well. We wanted to play attractive football and bring results at the same time," Kadodia told the club’s official website.

"The Coach achieved that. This helps a great deal in marketing the brand. Unfortunately though, we lost important points in the last five games at Harry Gwala. We could have finished on the top four at break.

"From February when the league resumes, all teams will be faced with a challenging thirteen games. The first three games will be very critical to get points for us to be able to achieve the target.

"I am confident that we will achieve our top eight target, which has eluded us over the seasons."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
