According to KickOff, the goalkeeper is on the brink of breaking the record which has been held by former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Brian Baloyi.
The Bafana legend played 467 games of which 409 has been played in the PSL.
Slimkat has been playing 18 years in South African top flight football and is one of three players to surpass 400 PSL games along with Baloyi and Orlando Pirates stalwart Lucky Lekgwathi.
Josephs record is likely to extend as his contract has a two-year option and with being in his last year Gavin Hunt and Wits representatives might want to trigger that clause.
Meanwhile, AmaZulu will look for a third successive Absa Premiership match without defeat when they host Wits at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
When the teams met earlier this season, goals from Hlatshwayo and Pule took the Clever Boys to a 2-0 home win.
Kick-off is at 19:30 on Tuesday, March 10.
