Josephs delighted to be back

Johannesburg - Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs is delighted to be back in action following his ankle injury in the off-season.

'Slimkat' made his first appearance for the Clever Boys this season in a 2-0 win over AmaZulu at the Bidvest Stadium on Friday.

"It is so good to be back in action, but I must give thanks to the Almighty God for all the strength because I have been out for quite a long period of time," said Josephs.

"Fortunately we won the game on Friday and I am confident despite playing only one game so far this season.

"I had a tough job to command all my defenders and am sure their ears are still fuming because of the way I was shouting at them, but that’s how I enjoy the game and how I show my passion for it.

"I just hope my character, confidence and experience would contribute to the team this season."

The Cape Town-born goal minder took over the number one jersey from Rowen Fernandez who was recruited as a free agent to act as cover while Josephs was out of action.

Josephs will be looking to continue his with his fine form of last season which earned him a nomination for the PSL goalkeeper of the season accolade which was won by his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart, Itumeleng Khune.
