Johannesburg - Moeneeb Josephs is adamant Orlando Pirates are in the running for the title, even though they are six points adrift of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Brazilians have swept to the summit of the Premiership and remain the bookmakers' favourites to their first championship since the 2006/7 campaign.
While the cheeseboys from Chloorkop remain the team to beat, the Buccaneers' first-choice goalkeeper is optimistic his side can win the PSL, despite suffering a a seven-year drought of their own.
"It is our wish (to win the league), and looking at the way the guys are sweating it out on the field, it is just fair to say that we are definitely in the running," Slim Kat told the Pirates website..
"A single loss cannot determine the course of your journey in this league, that is why we strive to convincingly bounce stronger from any setbacks we come across, it would be great to be league champions this season, but there is still a lot to happen and we hope things will work out in our favor - it is in our hands," he explained.
The South African international also called upon The Ghost to come out and support Pirates on Wednesday "because we have to get the three points against Platinum Stars".
The Sea Robbers conclude their 2010 fixtures with the clash at the Orlando Stadium and Josephs believes the match is crucial for the club as they look to place pressure on Sundowns heading into the Christmas break.
He said: This is probably one of the most important games we are playing and we need all the support we can get."
