Johnstone: Hard work pays off

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits assistant coach Paul Johnstone said the team did well in the MTN8 quarterfinal clash against SuperSport United even though more is expected.

Johnstone told Sport24 that although they beat SuperSport they still have a lot to work to get through despite a winning start to the season.

“Well we worked very hard and we became victorious in the end,” he said.

“We certainly expect a lot more you know.

“That really gives us room to go back and improve on where we were lacking and rectify a few things."

The assistant coach said he hopes the team improves on the defensive side and close the gaps when on the back foot.

“I think there’s always a work in progress.

“It was our first game of the competition and we did well but I’d say we should improve on the defensive side.”

Wits beat SuperSport 3-1 in extra-time after the encounter was deadlocked at 1-1 following the 90 minutes.
